I stayed at Emigrant Campground, one of the FCFS developed campgrounds. It is currently closed due to storm damage.
Death Valley NP is brought to you by the National Park Service.
If you go to DV without reading up on it... No! The NPS has a very comprehensive website, they answer their phone, they're on social media, there's a visitor center (with WiFi).
One week's vehicular entrance to the park is $30 if you don't have an annual or similar pass. At entrance, pick up your visitor's guide, the little newspaper.
This is a national park so has tourist, camping, hiking, and sight-seeing experiences.
Death Valley has plenty of backcountry and wilderness (site) (pdf)
If you want to go tool around off-road, use drones, bring loose dogs, or other wild-and-craziness, please go to some other part of the Mojave. There are other public lands, here are two examples. OHV in Mojave: Providence Mtn SRA Campgrounds, dispersed camping, hunting in Mojave: Mojave National Preserve
